Mourning Retires

Alounzo Mourning has announced that he will retire instead of pursue another comeback.  Mourning is one of the better players in the last 20 years, and should be in the hall of fame.

Knicks upset Phoenix

For anyone who watched the Knicks last night, you saw a team that has a real chance to make a name for itself.  Mike D'Antoni has showed New York that he can coach, and the Knicks have shown that when motivated, they can hang tight with any team in the league.  They've won four of their last six including huge upsets of New Orleans and Phoenix, not to mention a solid win against Chicago.  David Lee has shown he can be an elite center in the D'Antoni system and the Knicks would be fools for trading him away.  Why would the Knicks trade away a home-grown star, something they have not had since Patrick Ewing.  If the Knicks could bring in a strong point guard in the upcoming free agency, then they could soon rise to the top of all of the NBA.

Locks of the Day

This blog does not condone gambling, but if you do, here are my locks for the day.

Boston +5 VS Orlando:  Since when has Boston been five point underdogs?  They just crushed Miami by fifteen.  They should hang with Orlando.

Collins replacing Favre

nonono, not on the Jets, just on the Pro-Bowl roster.  Unlike most years when Favre just says he's not gonna show up, he actually has a legitimate injury this year, which he needs to recover from if he wants to play again next year.  Obviously we here at the blog wish Favre the best and a speedy recovery.  Brett, we need you back!

Coaching Staff is in place

Currently, Rex Ryan is holding a press conference to be introduced as the new Head Coach of the Jets, he alluded to Schottenheimer, Caldwell, and Westoff all staying in their current positions. He also made mention to Brett Favre, giving him praise and saying we will work with him towards a decision towards his return. We'll see in the coming days and weeks what Favre decides and then what Rex decides to do with Kellen Clemens, and Bret Ratliffe.

Nady signs deal

Xavier Nady has signed a deal with the Yankees for 6.5 million for one year. Nady, who has been rumored in trades for the last few months, will receive a $3 million payraise from last year. Nady poses a high average threat with some power in the upper half of the order. Unlike Bobby Abreu, Nady is consistent and un-afraid of the right field wall, and is a player the yankees have not had since Paul O'Neill retired at the end of the 2001 season.

Woody wants Brett back

Woody Johnson, who trade for Brett Favre a few months ago, is apparently a huge fan of Favre, and is pushing him to return for another years. Obviously new coach Rex Ryan will have some say in the matter, but at the end of the day, Woody will probably have the final decision.

Schottenheimer to stay

Despite an offense that tanked in the final month of the season, The Jets, and Rex Ryan, have agreed to keep Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator. Schottenheimer led the Jets to the 16th ranked offense, 9th in the rush and 16th in the pass. One plus to this could be that Favre and Schottenheimer had a good relationship, and this may lead Favre to return for yet another season. Even if he does decide to retire, at least Schottenheimer has been grooming Kellen Clemens for the last three years, and the Jets should be able to use him, as opposed to drafting another young inexperienced QB.

T-Rex to lead the Jets

Chris Mortensen is reporting that Rex Ryan has agreed to a four year deal to lead the Jets. Why the Jets are bent on hiring coordinators instead of proven Head Coaches, I'll never understand. Either way, Rex should at least bring a defense that has under-performed for the last three years, back to a smash-mouth team.

Locks of the Day

Knicks -2.5 VS Bulls: The Knicks, at home should definately win this game. After tough losses to Philadelhpia and Washington, the Knicks should take this one.

The SUPER BOWL!

The people have spoken, and the decision is final. Pittsburgh VS Arizona. Who could have foreseen this at the beginning of the playoffs, let alone at the beginning of the season. Arizona was a 40:1 at the start of the year, while Pittsburgh was 15:1. If you got this matchup correct, go take a long vacation. Anyways, my early prediction for the game is a mid-range score. Both teams get into the 20s. It'll be a close game, nothing like last year, but Arizona will have a shot at the end.

Sadly though (Except if you live in Pittsburgh), The Steelers will win. 27-20

Lions Hire Jim Schwartz

Lions have hired Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz as their head coach. Schwartz, who has served as the Titans defensive coordinator for the last four years, led them to the second ranked defense in the NFL this year. Only time will tell if he will fall to the curse of the Lions, or bring them to greatness.

Mark Sanchez Headed to the Bigs

In a press conference about 30 minutes ago, Mark Sanchez announced that he has declared for the NFL draft. With Tebow and Brandford staying back in college, Sanchez saw the chance to be the highest scouted QB in the draft class this year. I hear Detroit has a nice cushiony spot all lined up for him too....

Lock of the day

This blog does not condone gambling. But if you do, here are some locks for the day.

UCLA -11.5 VS Arizona: UCLA may be the best team in the league, and 12 points for them is nothing.

Red Wings -200 VS L.A. Kings: The Red Wings are heavily favored, but if u wanna get an easy win and make some cash, this is the game to do it on.

Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford has just announced that he will return to the Oklahoma Sooners next year in pursuits of a National Championship. Good For him! Too many young college quarterbacks spurn an additional year of college for the big money of the NFL. The college game needs more guys like him and Tim Tebow to stay and play another year. It looks like the rivalry will last another year, and maybe we'll see a rematch again next year. Although, this could turn out to be another Matt Leinert situation and his stock could drop. All-in-all, maybe he's just trying to avoid being drafted by the Detroit Lions.

Locks of the Day

This blog does not condone gambling. But if you do I would go with these 2 games:
1. Knicks -4.5 VS Wizards. The Knicks should win this one by at least 15.

2. Syracuse +6.5 VS Georgetown. I personally think Syracuse will win this one, but they certainly won't lose by 7. Take the points.

McDaniels to coach The Broncos

Josh McDaniels has been announced as the Denver Broncos head coach. McDaniels, who coached offense for the Patriots the last three season, will attempt to revitalize a team that has failed to make the playoffs since 2005. With Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, and a strong running game, McDaniels should have an easy job at turning the solid Denver offense into an all-star crew. However, if he's anything like the last three Patriot coordinators who have taken head coaching jobs, he may be looking for a new job in a few years.
